Why This Trip is Perfect For You

This experience is about spending a week in one beautiful location, the jewel box of the Italian coast. The villages are easily connected by trains, just minutes away from each other, safe to walk at night, and a quiet haven when daytrippers retreat to the cities.

Each day, you embark on an expertly curated day trip from our home base. Thanks to our many years of living in the area, you get a backstage pass. This signature tour is our longest-running and most popular choice. The Cinque Terre offers a slice of simpler times, with nature, trails, swimming, boating, and gelato-ing.

What you’ve discovered is a slice of slow living you never knew you needed. No cars are allowed, and neither are large ships in the harbors. Cinque Terre is ecologically protected and secluded from heavy traffic and industry, making this postcard-perfect area a dreamy respite from the modern world.

What You’ll Experience over 7 Beautiful Days of Carefree Living

Travel The Iconic & Hidden Villages of the Italian Riviera

Create Unique Memories in A Unique Part of Italy.

Unpack Once & Day Trip

This area of the Riviera is compact, and there’s no need to hotel-hop. Our expert itinerary has been operating for over 15 years, and we know a thing or three about what to see and what to skip in this area. Unpack once, as our hotel is ideally located in the historical village of Monterosso. Our hotel has been hosting us for 10 years, and we’re right in the center of everything: shopping, restaurants, services, the beach, the church, and the main piazza. You’ll love your home away from home, a pedestrian-friendly town that is safe and quiet, and an ideal base to explore the surrounding cities and villages with our guides.

Visit Villages We Keep Secret

Visit Villages We Keep Secret

At Italian Fix, we blend Italy’s iconic destinations (like the Cinque Terre) with hidden gems you’ve likely never heard of. Our signature “second cities” strategy is why so many people choose to travel with us. We carefully mix well-known locations with lesser-known ones because we understand that 70% of Italy’s foreign tourism is funneled into just 1% of the country. We want our guests to see it all, both the iconic sites and the secondary ones, that capture the spirit of vita lenta (the slow life). To protect the locations from overtourism, we intentionally leave these unknown villages off public facing itineraries. Please send us a message as we’re happy to share everything.

A Glorious Coastal Train Ride to Non-Famous Spots.

We’ll hop on a train to travel the Italian Riviera to Sestri Levante. The train winds along the picturesque coast and in 40 minutes you’ll be in the “City of The Two Seas”. You’ll have free time to explore the historic center and see pastel-colored houses. Browse unique artisanal shops and wander around at your own pace. Stop for a gelato or try the local speciality, focaccia Genovese. Or take a dip in the Bay of Fairytales. From there, we’ll head into the hills to a secret village and dine together at a local trattoria, something an Italian family would do on a Sunday. Our driver takes us home because door-to-door service is also great.

Cinque Terre Boat Excursion

You haven’t fully experienced the Cinque Terre until you’ve cruised the villages from the sea. Capture memories and enjoy a drink as you glide past the colorful, pastel fishing towns. Swim or bob in the clear waters beneath the towering cliffs, and take plenty of photos along the way. This fun experience is a core memory for many guests. This trip is designed to be comfy and accessible for both the non-swimmers and the mermaids.

Private Wine Tasting

Visit a private cantina belonging to a vintner who has been making wine here for over five decades. We’ll taste the local whites and prized Sciacchetra, a unique wine from this region. Wines from the Cinque Terre are grown on terraced hillsides and, unlike other Italian wines, are not exported, so enjoying them at the vintner’s cantina is a special experience.

Culturally Rooted Meals & Tastings

In Italy, food is the culture. The flavors are how you connect with it from the inside. Throughout this trip, you’ll experience it from different angles: from sunset aperitivo, apericena on the beach, a local trattoria in the hills and a cooking experience at our friend’s villa. You’ll sit where Italians sit, eat what they eat and slow down into the coastal rhythm. While everyone can visit restaurants, being with insiders means you experience the best ones and also get to dine at our friends’ homes.

Day 2

Have your breakfast each morning on the hotel’s outdoor terrace, surrounded by lemon trees. Today, we explore the lesser-known streets in and around the charming villages of the Cinque Terre, including Riomaggiore and Manarola and a secret village outside of the “famous five”. We know the perfect spots for capturing those iconic photos. We enjoy a sunset aperitivo with a great view. Sleep: Monterosso

Beach club at Cinque Terre

Day 3

Today we venture to Levanto — where Italian tourists like to spend their summers. You’ll spend some time in the town, before heading to our friend's place for an afternoon of cooking, eating and relaxing at her lovely villa. After lunch, we return to our home base of Monterosso. You have the option to visit our favorite beach club (crack open a book, dip your toes into the water) or wander the village to discover the shops (or nap at home!). You have a free evening. Sleep: Monterosso

Day 4

Day trip! We head to Sestri Levante on a scenic train ride along the coast. You’ll have free time to explore this under-the-radar Ligurian seaside village. You can choose to browse at local shops or wander the streets of this upbeat town in a glorious coastal area. From here, we’ll head up to a hill village we keep secret for an amazing dinner. Our driver takes us back to Monterosso after dinner. Sleep: Monterosso

Day 5

It’s another beautiful day in paradise, and we have another exclusive event arranged specially for Italian Fix guests. We head out to Vernazza — considered the most picturesque of the five villages. We wander up into our friend’s house perched above town where we have tastings of local wines at his private cantina. We’ll catch lunch at the piazza and watch the boats come in. Sleep: Monterosso

Day 6

You can’t come to the Cinque Terre on the breathtaking Italian Riviera and not go out on the water. Lounge about and take in the spectacular views from our private boat. During our excursion, we’ll visit secret swim spots along the Mediterranean waters and enjoy lunch on board. Let the beauty and simplicity of the Cinque Terre inspire you as we float gently along the coastline. We seal the deal with a farewell dinner our friend cooks for us at her house. Sleep: Monterosso

Day 7

Take in the final moments Cinque Terre has to offer before checking out of your hotel. In case you’re not ready to head back home, we have designed our travel season so you can extend your stay. View the calendar to see other trips you can add before or after this trip. Whatever you choose, we know you’ll be leaving inspired and refreshed, having fully embraced the art of living, Italian style. Buon viaggio!

Cinque Terre Boat Ride

Notes From Our Founder, Bianca

I met my Italian husband in these villages over 20 years ago. We met in the harbor of Riomaggiore, where you’ll also visit. You’ll instantly get a sense of the magic and beauty of these places because the lens through which we’ve curated this trip is one of togetherness, belonging, traditions, and stories.

Anyone can visit these villages, but without someone to share the nuance, most leave with only a postcard version of the place. My personal roots here are why this trip exists at all — and why it has been our longest-running experience since 2011.

When I envisioned this week in Italy, I aimed to create a trip based on the heart and soul of this land. I asked myself what I’d want to do with my best friend if she were visiting and could never come back. The result is an itinerary filled with highlights, secret spots, and insider access. Thanks to years of development and energy, and team members who live here, you get a very special week that is totally unique. No one does the Cinque Terre and the Italian Riviera like us!

Liguria is not flashy — it doesn’t have to be. The fact that you’re staying inside a UNESCO-protected park means this coastline will remain exactly as you find it — unspoiled, unbuilt, and appreciated for generations to come.

Our expert hosts make you feel like you’re taking part in something truly special — because you are. It’s my hope that the wonder and magic of the Cinque Terre give you everything you’re looking for. And who knows? You might even find some happy surprises, just like I did in the harbor of Riomaggiore.

With love + limoncello,

Bianca

Frequently Asked Questions

romantic hotels in florence italy

You can buy insurance, or use the insurance they already own (through work coverage etc.) Insurance protects you should you fall ill before you travel, or an immediate family member does and you do not want to leave the country. Policies vary and you can shop around.

Our travelers make connections that are deep and real between each other. With social disconnection on the rise more than ever, infusing your life with good people is a sacred act. (We have a knack for attracting interesting and great people!)

One of the most beautiful things about our trips is that they attract a lot of different kinds of people — and we’re proud of that. Our fun, safe, and let-your-hair-down energy draws the right guests from around the world with different backgrounds — because wanting to live your dolce vita transcends any location or age range.

We have guests who return to Italian Fix year after year. From the person who enjoys traveling solo to the besties who want to take a trip of a lifetime, they all want to have a carefree, fun-filled, and relaxing week. They trust Italian Fix to handle all the details.

We’re a boutique travel company with unique itineraries that focus on the lifestyle of the areas we visit. We’re intentional about sustainable travel experiences that support local economies. Although we love the finer things in life (we even train our hosts with some of the same service tenets as the Ritz Carlton), we want to do things differently.

We want our trips to be more open to a diverse set of travelers than a typical tour operator that only serves the 1%. We like to think of our experiences as a beautiful balance of activities and cadence that lets you savor your vacation — we do mix things up but we do not run you off your feet.

We might offer a stunning multi-course meal with wine pairings at an award-winning restaurant one evening, and the next day, we’ll eat a panino at the market. Because we know you’re not traveling to Europe for a Disneyland-esque experience. You’re here to experience the lifestyle, which has nothing to do with thread count (although we do love that crisply ironed European bedding).

We offer our guests a beautifully layered and nuanced experience that uplifts and gets you into the heart of the places you’re traveling. Transformative experiences, connections, belonging, and belly laughter are the ultimate luxuries.

No! We have a combination of solo travelers, people traveling with friends, and people traveling with partners/spouses on our tours. This Cinque Terre tour has an option to choose a “women’s only” date too.

First off, we speak Italian! We also understand the context, the customs, and the community of every location we visit. In Europe, it’s not what you know — it’s who you know. And we know people.

We’re a small company that serves just 200 guests per year. You can read more about us here. By comparison, most tour operators are massive — some serve about 30,000 people a year! That’s not who we are — we’re female-owned and getting to know each of our travelers by name is super important! We truly want to get to know you.

When you break down what’s included — six nights of accommodation, nearly all meals and wine, a private boat charter, ground transportation, all tips, and a bilingual guide with you every day — the per-day cost is significantly less than you’d spend on your own. And you wouldn’t get the access. The hidden cantina, the dinners at friends’ homes, the secret villages — those aren’t available at any price without the relationships we’ve spent years building.

Coming with us is like having a backstage pass. If you travel without us, you’re just one in a million foreigners waiting in lines and trying to get service. No connections or language fluency makes you the odd one out.

Our travel style allows you to be among friends and have access to things you couldn’t find on your own. No big-box concept of tourism around here. At Italian Fix, we’re mindful about keeping traditions alive and supporting local economies.

Our carefully crafted itineraries have been perfected over years of hosting successful trips, so they play out like a symphony — with cadence, timing and rhythm. All of our trips have up-time and down-time. The introverts who need quiet to recharge can get it, and the extroverts who derive energy from new connections can thrive too. One of our mottos is “Hey, it’s your holiday — opt out of any days you like.” We have lots to see, eat, do and explore whenever you wish to join in. Just put on your comfy shoes and andiamo!

Many of our guests are in the same boat. We have people who are going through life changes and more traveling is calling them. You’ll fit right in (and life is better with people who get you and you could potentially travel with in the future!).
