POST ON YOUR DREAMBOARD

We’re heading way down south this week for all you lovers of looking sharp. Every major city in Italy has its own suit style — Milan’s jackets tend to be more structured and their colors more discreet; Florence sees more tweeds and their palette reflects the olive and rust tones of the surrounding countryside; Rome’s suits are boxier, with a square shoulder. But there’s nothing like a Neapolitan suit to turn our heads — these guys have no shoulder padding at all (a nod to the super hot summers there), so they have a softer, more elegant look. And they come in intense colors because the southern sun tends to bleach fabric out. My dream is to take Alessandro down for some head-to-toe bespoke love with the Made-to-Measure custom service at Isaia Napoli, a family enterprise since 1920. (But you know I’m picking up at least one of these babies for myself!)

MANGIAMO

In the Before Times, when we last did in-person things like host writing workshops in fabulous cities like Florence, we spent a lot of time scouting the perfect venues for our events. B-Roof on top of Hotel Baglioni was one such venue — we had our group of entrepreneurs and copywriters gather here for our first dinner together, and it was a major hit. We ate a classic Italian multi-course meal with a 360° view of the city, because if you’re going to surround yourself with a panorama, Florence is the place to do it. Check out our Florence City Guide for our other hand-picked recos.

WHAT WE’RE LOVING RIGHT NOW

Our latest obsession is the coolest little boutique hotel in Rome. Owned by super stylin’ Roman art promoter, Gabriele Salini, G-Rough is a 10-room design-lover’s dream housed in a 17th century building near Piazza Navona. Each room combines traditional Roman architecture with modern furniture, so you’ll see classic mosaic flooring and shabby chic original wall finishes paired with pieces by Ico Parisi, Afra and Tobia Scarpa, and Guglielmo Ulrich. There’s even a gallery at the entrance dedicated to up-and-coming creators. Art junkies unite!

WISH WE WERE HERE

Saying ‘ciao’ from Sicily! We can’t get over how photogenic this country is. Come travel with Italian Fix to exotic Sicily this spring — it’s like traveling to three countries in one (Greece, Africa, Italy). We have space on the women-only departure happening at the end of May (22-29). I’ve been to Sicily multiple times in May and it’s really THE time to go — before the intense heat comes. But it’s still sunny and gorgeous and summery. We go to my favorite Italian island of all time and stay at the dreamiest hotel and spa — I call this place the Hawaii of Italy. But you’ll also stay in the city of Palermo and the seaside towns of Siracusa and Taormina. It’s a perfect blend of city, culture and nature. Oh, and shopping.

Check out the deets here or reply to this email with “Sicily” and we’ll send you a rundown. This is the smallest group of the season, so joining it is great value. We have people on that trip that are coming back to do it for the second time! If that’s not a ringing endorsement, I don’t know what is.

PS: We also have a handful of spots available on our May 2022 Cinque Terre date as well. We are down to our LAST private room if you’re coming alone. We have a shared room if you’re bringing a friend. Just reply to this email… asking is free! We’ll send you dates, rates and availability. 2022 is your year to look after yourself — let us help!
