Cinque Terre Resources For Travelers
Accommodation: I Limoni di Thule
Christina has been getting rave reviews from her clients for over a decade with her warm and friendly hospitality. Christina’s a great person to be connected to — originally from England but a long time Riomaggiore resident. You’ll be hosted on her family’s property in a quiet residential neighborhood just steps away from the castle of Riomaggiore. Choose from a studio with kitchenette or standard room, both with balconies and incredible sea views from your bed. You can wake up and hear the waves crashing! I Limoni has always offered excellent value, and many people return here year after year. A bonus feature of this accommodation is that it’s accessible by road, so if you’re driving in Italy this is the ultimate solution. If you’re taking the train, it’s easy to find on foot.

Accommodation: Casa Lorenza
Lorenza, one of the most helpful people you’ll ever meet, bends over backward to please her guests and make sure they have the stay of their lives in the village of Riomaggiore. She offers visitors two choices for accommodation, rooms or an apartment. The apartment has a lovely outdoor green space with table and chairs for al fresco dining and great views. The rooms have balconies, and they all have sweeping views of the village and sea. The location is Via di Loca, one of the most desirable areas in town. You feel like you’re in another world — a peaceful, residential neighborhood, despite being just off the main drag with easy access to all you need in Riomaggiore within walking distance.

Martha’s properties are all brand new, in the heart of Riomaggiore – a stone’s throw to the marina, a quick walk to the train station and steps to restaurants and shops! She’s originally from California, living in Riomaggiore for 10+ years, so she’s ultra connected. She makes sure every guest is taken care of by helping you with a personalized itinerary – booking restaurants, cooking classes, hiking tours, boat tours (her husband owns a boat tour company in Riomaggiore) or anything you’re interested in doing! You can’t go wrong with Martha – modern, clean accommodations in the historical center of Riomaggiore with a hostess who’s willing to go the extra mile.

Accommodation: La Torretta Lodge
One of the chicest places to stay in the villages, La Torretta is a ten room boutique hotel built around a 17th century tower. All the rooms and suites have sea views and independent entrances. They go above and beyond service with included private transfers from the La Spezia train station, which is an incredibly unique offering for their clients — no hassling with trains and luggage. It doesn’t get any easier. We adore their lobby and room styling, filled with art, stunning wallpapers, and objects. The vibe is more chic private home than hotel, and we love the views, the quiet location in the village of Manarola, the nightly (included) aperitivo sessions and of course the hot tub which is uncommon in these parts. La Torretta has always been a favorite among the villages for the design-minded and luxury seeking traveler.

Accommodation: Il BoMa
Maddy is a great resource should you be traveling to Riomaggiore as she has seven properties for you to choose from. Her rooms, apartments, and B&B options are all located in great locations within walking distance to all amenities in Riomaggiore. Maddy is originally from New York, but her parents are from Riomaggiore. And on one visit to her homeland of Italy, she met her now-husband, and after many years of running a restaurant in Riomaggiore, they now rent practical lodgings to travelers. Our fave place in her collection is Apartment Gabri — renovated and great value. With a stunning view over the hillsides and the sea, a location like this is just what you dream about when you’re at home planning a trip. It’s so handy to have a kitchen if you’re staying more than a few days (if you want to save some cash and don’t need the kitchen but still want those views — Maddy can accommodate that).

Accommodation: Sandra Villa Rooms
Since it is more isolated than the other towns, Corniglia is often described as the village that has best retained the Cinque Terre’s original spirit and atmosphere, and Sandra Villa Rooms is an excellent choice for your stay here. Walk down a picturesque cobblestoned laneway right off the main piazza to five newly renovated rooms and a studio apartment — two of the rooms plus the apartment offer balconies with stunning views of the vineyards, village and sea. Sandra and Paolo are warm, accommodating hosts, who do their utmost to make sure your holiday is a special one. Contact them via email to make your reservation and experience their charming hospitality and the tranquil beauty of Corniglia first hand. Owned by Denise, who was raised in New York by her Riomaggioresi parents and moved “back home” to the Cinque Terre in adulthood, Allo Scalo dei Mille’s initial draw is that it’s located right smack in the middle of the picture postcard shot of the marina that epitomizes these five towns.

Accommodation: Allo Scalo dei Mille
Owned by Denise, who was raised in New York by her Riomaggioresi parents and moved “back home” to the Cinque Terre in adulthood, Allo Scalo dei Mille’s initial draw is that it’s located right smack in the middle of the picture postcard shot of the marina that epitomizes these five towns. What gets it the great reviews are its three beautifully restored, elegantly furnished sea-view rooms in a 13th-century building (the Anita room has a gorgeous little balcony too), the friendly and helpful staff, and of course waking up to the sound of waves lapping just outside your door. The beach, the train station, great restaurants and the main street are all just steps away from this exceptionally positioned property.

Accommodation: Affittacamere Fiorella
Affittacamere Fiorella is one of those places that feels oh so Italian. There’s no street number, so you follow directions “”Cinque Terre style”” — walk up to the castle, take a right at the hiking trail, and there you are! (Not to worry, owner Paola will come to meet you and show you the way.) Plus, your room is part of a larger apartment, so it feels cozy and personal, but with your own private entrance and bathroom. It also includes a garden view, queen-size bed, fridge, TV, A/C, Wi-Fi, and everything you need to make a simple breakfast. Located in the upper part of Riomaggiore, Fiorella is away from the center’s hustle and bustle, but is still no more than a 10-minute walk from the sea, the station and the shops and restaurants, with convenient access to a public elevator to the lower part of town. It’s also one of the few properties in this pedestrian-only village that allows you to drive right up to it and park nearby (to be reserved in advance with additional fee).
Distance to Riomaggiore train station: 750 m (10 min walking)
Distance to Riomaggiore parking lot: 500 m (7 min walking) — contact Paola for private parking options.

Food: Ristorante La Lampara
La Lampara, right on the main street of Riomaggiore has been offering locals and travelers excellent Italian food for 35 years. In restaurant years, that’s forever! A family run business, the three sons Spadaro are now leading with young energy; Antonio, Sergio, and Emanuele Spadaro as head chef. Chef Emanuele has studied under Michelin starred chefs in Rome after completing the prestigious Alma culinary school in Parma, and brings high-level skill set to the small village of Riomaggiore. Traditional dishes of Liguria are reimagined in a modern way with a thoughtful aesthetic. Since seafood is their specialty, we recommend the lobster starter, and if you want to taste the most iconic dish of the villages, you’ll need to try the anchovies (tell us what you think). Suitable for a special meal but casual enough for everyday dining, La Lampara is open year round to serve locals and travelers.
