Book your 2017 girlfriend trip of a lifetime to the Cinque Terre Italy with Italian Fix

*This content has been updated for the 2025 season.*                                              Planning a trip to the Cinque Terre can be enough to do your head in, amiright?

All you have to do is check out the comments section in our Beginner’s Guide to the Cinque Terre to see how complicated people seem to find traveling to these five towns.

(There are literally hundreds of Cinque Terre travel questions from readers on that one blog post alone!)

It’s not like going to Florence or Rome, where you basically know what to expect. Even a jaw-droppingly gorgeous city in Italy is still a city — you figure out what you want to see and where you want to stay, and you go from there.

But the Cinque Terre is a place like no other, so before you even begin to plan, you have to wrap your head around this area’s sometimes seriously confusing logistics.

The answer to a simple question like, “Can I drive there?” is:

“Well yes, but also no. You can get there by car, but you can only drive down into the villages during certain hours of the day. And you have to park up at the top of town, not right at your hotel. And that’s only if you can find a space because the parking lots are small, so you might want to park in La Spezia or Levanto instead. In which case you’d have to take the train in anyway, and you’ll want to take the train between villages as well. So yes, you can drive there. But that doesn’t mean you should.”

Some others we get asked over and over again:

“How do I choose which town to stay in?”

“How do I know which trails I’ll be able to hike and which will be closed?”

“Should I stay in a different town each night?”

“Are there any restaurants where only the locals go?”

“What are the best spots for taking amazing photos?”

“Is it safe for women traveling solo?”

“I want to go for 4 days and 3 nights — what’s the best itinerary for me?”

“Can you PLEASE help me plan my trip???”

That last one is a biggie, because don’t you just want someone to do all of this work for you?

Wouldn’t it feel so good to skip all of the Googling and guessing and hoping you’re going to make the best choices and hit the coolest places?

If you have a week to see this magnificent part of the world, you want to do it right.

And you want it to be easy. (A vacation should = less, not MORE work!)

Well hey, you guys! That’s exactly what we do for you.

When you come on one of our current Cinque Terre tours, you can relax!

You can spend the lead-up to your trip daydreaming about how blissful it’s going to be instead of stressing about whether you’ve done enough of the right research.

And you can rest easy because you know that we’ve got decades of experience in this area.

In fact, unlike other companies, our tour guides actually live in the Cinque Terre.

So we take you to the restaurants the locals love, the secret swimming spots you otherwise wouldn’t know about, the trails off the beaten path, and the under-the-radar towns nearby.

I mean, feast your eyes on this itinerary, wouldja?

DAY 1

Your host will be there to meet you the second you arrive in Monterosso. And, because our team of experts have all the details covered, you can instantly ease right into the Dolce Zone—that carefree state of mind that Italian Fix guests experience. Tonight, we share our first of many epic meals together with our group in a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for your first night in the Cinque Terre. Images of the hotel are here.

DAY 2

Have your breakfast each morning on the hotel’s outdoor terrace, surrounded by lemon trees. Today, we explore the lesser-known streets in and around the charming villages of the Cinque Terre, including Riomaggiore and Manarola. This is not your typical tour. We circle around the main drags where everyone else goes, instead guiding you to better vistas with fewer people and plenty of fun. We know the perfect spots for capturing those iconic photos. Forget postcards—you’ll take those shots yourself.

DAY 3

Today we venture to Levanto — where Italian tourists like to spend their summers. You can choose a bike tour or a walking tour with your guide. After an active morning, we return to our home base of Monterosso. You have the option to visit our favorite beach club (crack open a book, dip your toes into the water) or wander the village to discover the shops (or nap at home!). In the evening, we gather for an aperitivo and dinner, beachside.

DAY 4

Road trip! We head to Tuscany with our private driver to one of our absolute fave places in all of Italy— an expansive market full of Made in Italy clothing, shoes, and gifts. In the afternoon, we head to a quiet Tuscan town where the streets are filled with artists and sculpture studios. Dinner is at a friend’s sculpture-studio-turned-restaurant.

DAY 5

This is a “choose your own adventure” day. We have a ton of suggestions to inspire you, but today is your day to do whatever you feel like in the moment. Take the ferry to another village. Hike on the famous trails. Relax and ponder life’s wonders as you cat nap under a striped beach umbrella. Whether it’s a visit to luxe Portofino or an afternoon doing absolutely nothing (or a bit of both!), it’s your time. Of course—rely on us for the best advice.

DAY 6

It’s another beautiful day in paradise, and we have another exclusive event arranged specially for Italian Fix guests. We head out to Vernazza—considered the most picturesque of the five villages. We wander up into the vineyards perched above town where we have tastings of local wines at a private cantina. Afterward, soak up the relaxing vibes back at home on Monterosso’s stunning promenade, catching the sunset and a Spritz.

DAY 7

You can’t come to Cinque Terre on the breathtaking Italian Riviera and not go out on the water. Lounge about and take in the spectacular views from our private boat. During our excursion, we’ll visit secret swim spots along the Mediterranean waters and enjoy lunch on board. Let the beauty and simplicity of the Cinque Terre inspire you as we float gently along the coastline. We seal the deal with a farewell dinner.

  1. We are only in Cinque Terre for 2 days (my husband, my friend and her husband). Can you help us out for those days?

  2. Should have said that we arrive on Saturday 19 August and leave on 21 August. We will be staying at the Hotel Margherita.

    1. One full day is enough. On the 19 as soon as you arrived take the bus (15 to min) to Portofino. Portofino is closer to Sta. Margherita and is pretty. The next day take the train to Monterosso, the closest CT village (about an hour train trip). Depending on how long you stay in each village you will be able to see at least 3 to 4 villages of CT by taking the train to each village. Check trenitalia.com website for timetable. CT villages look pretty from the sea so you may use a ferry going to CT and train back to SM . You can catch a ferry from SM waterfront. You may checkout traghettiportofino.it.
