Eclectic: Mixing cities, towns, rural and seaside villages.
This is the chance to travel from North to South Italy on a research trip with one job in mind — to help you imagine how you could live differently.
We’ve curated a diverse kaleidoscope of Italian cities, villages and seaside escapes, so you can explore spots for short- or long-term stays. Whether you’re planning a few months or a future relocation, this trip moves your dreams forward.
Our Italian-speaking team handles the logistics, connects you with experts, and shows you potential housing options at every budget — while you dream, explore, and gather real insights.
This is strategy plus inspiration.
We’ve done the heavy lifting to create an artful, expertly curated itinerary that blends Italy’s cities, seaside towns, and small villages.
It’s the perfect mix of smart planning and beautiful experiences designed to help you dream and decide. Over 13 days, you’ll travel with a small group of like-minded people who are also exploring the idea of a short- or long-term stay in Italy. The format is flexible, supportive, and way more fun (and cost-effective) than trying to figure it all out on your own — because a professional team is working behind the scenes to make everything functional and practical.
Throughout the journey, you’ll visit furnished rentals in a variety of budgets, connect with trusted relocation professionals—including visa specialists, attorneys, tax experts and gain real clarity on what life could look like in different regions. We’ve even prepared sample budgets for you that break down the true cost of living in the places you’ll visit. Each day is designed to offer a balance of uptime and downtime, with our bilingual Italian Fix guide leading the way and our concierge team smoothing out the details in the background.
We’ve also introduced an innovative “track system” that allows you to focus on the places that best match your lifestyle goals. Be a tourist in destinations you’re not considering for living (for example, Rome), and dive deeper into places where you feel a stronger connection (like a quiet seaside village). You’ll have the flexibility to tailor your experience without sacrificing the support and structure that makes this journey so effective.
Our expert team, who speaks Italian and understands the expat journey, has crafted a tour that combines both the practical and the inspirational. You’ll review budgets over bubbles, view apartments with a trusted guide who advocates for you, and meet dozens of experts and local partners who are ready to support your vision. No one will be pulling any fast ones — because we understand local customs.
We’ve selected a “hotlist” of expat-friendly locations that blend practicality (access to hospitals, schools, and services) with the dream of the Italian lifestyle.
This is a unique opportunity to explore the realities of Italian life with clarity, confidence, and community so you can start planting the seeds for your next chapter.
You can have a beautiful life, with more pleasure, more peace, and maybe even for less money than you’re spending right now living outside of Europe. We’ll show you exactly how.
Imagine your leisurely breakfast in the piazza on day two of our trip, as you’re taking notes of the lifestyle you could live in that location. Then imagine having a full afternoon of activities that are tailored to your hopes and dreams for the future.
One moment you’re having a beautiful alfresco lunch in the countryside of Tuscany, speaking with a couple who moved to a pretty little apartment, because they wanted a simple and inexpensive life. Next, you’re touring furnished rentals in Southern Italy—comparing a lock-and-leave pied-à-terre to a villa with a pool. This journey is designed to spark meaningful introductions, helping you build your personal “black book” of connections. Meeting people face-to-face sets things in motion, serendipity often does the rest.
In each location we’ll be painting the picture for peace and pleasure — this is an adventure but with math, wine (likely at the same time), and new possibilities.
And if that’s not enough, each location we visit comes with a custom report card. Using our unique grading system, towns are rated for peace, pleasure, cost of living, access to services, and weekend travel potential to the rest of Europe — you get the idea.
This is how we’re not only showing you beautiful places and handling logistics, but also giving you strategic insight to make the most of your time, energy, and money. With 15 years of experience and millions of euros spent on the ground, Italian Fix knows exactly where the good stuff is.
Follow us — we’re leaders.
Travel from North to South — from Lucca to Lecce as you search for your peace, pleasure, and the perfect place to land.
Discover the beauty and variety of life in Italy as you explore dozens of culturally rich, expat-friendly locations with proximity to essential services and communities. Our mission is to showcase the full range of lifestyles, from the luxury of Florence or Forte dei Marmi to the affordability of under-the-radar spots like Lunigiana. That’s why our itinerary spans North, Central, and Southern Italy. You’ll also receive a report card for each area, with scores for peace, pleasure, access to healthcare, and more — plus realistic 2025 budgets to help you compare options with clarity.
Doing business in Italy isn’t fast or easy. It takes months of planning, the right connections, and speaking the language. That’s why traveling with us is the ultimate shortcut. In Italy, it’s not what you know — it’s who you know, and we know people. We’ve arranged viewings of furnished rentals across a wide range of budgets and styles, from €500 to €5,000 a month, in cities, towns, and villages. Even if you’re not ready now, you’ll walk away knowing your preferences and with real contacts you’ve met face-to-face when the time comes.
Comprehending an expat lifestyle in Italy is hard until you’ve met with other people who are years ahead of you. Capture connections, and memories, and enjoy a meal together in their hometown. They are a wealth of info, connections, and insight. Learning from other people’s mistakes and wins is cheaper and easier than learning from your own. Plus — it’s so much fun!
This tour is built on the combined expertise of dozens of professionals (property managers, visa reps, tax advisors, and legal experts) whose collective knowledge spans generations. You can’t just buy this kind of access — you need to find it first. You’ll benefit from their knowledge, and respect of traditions and local laws because we only invite trusted experts who truly know their stuff.
If you’re ready, we’ll guide you through the essentials like getting an Italian cell phone number, intros to the bank manager to open a bank account, understanding the healthcare system, plus everyday basics like shopping and transport. These administration nuances make life easier when the time comes to make your move.
Our ambitious North-to-South itinerary is made easier with private transfers in a comfortable, air-conditioned bus. Behind the scenes, our expert ground team handles the details like we’ve been doing for 15 years as a dedicated tour operator with the connections and logistics to make it all run smoothly.
Your host will be there to meet you in Lucca. And, because our team of experts has all the details covered, you can instantly ease right into the Dolce Zone — that state of mind that Italian Fix guests experience. Tonight, we share our first of many epic meals together with our group in a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for your first night in Tuscany. Sleep: Lucca.
Have your breakfast without rushing, in the piazza or at your hotel. After breakfast, we’ll meet our Tuscany expert and explore the lesser-known streets in and around the charming town of Lucca. This is not your typical tour. We are focused on sharing the lifestyle and options of this medium-sized Tuscan town. The afternoon is spent tackling some logistics; apartment viewings, services, and neighborhoods in this jewel box town. Sleep: Lucca.
For the early birds, enjoy an optional bike tour of Lucca around the medieval walls. Before lunch, we’ll be off exploring the countryside around Lucca for those interested in a rural Tuscan lifestyle. Alternatively, if cities are what you’re after you’re off to Florence with your guide to view the logistics and neighborhoods that we recommend for long-term stays in Florence. Sleep: Lucca.
Today we’ll travel to the Ligurian seaside towns such as Lerici, Tellaro & Montemarcello as well as the Tuscan seaside towns of Marina di Carrara and Forte Dei Marmi. We’ll also be taking some downtime at a winery. Dolce far niente is a lifestyle — we’ll teach you how to do it, and it's pretty easy to learn, especially after a large Tuscan lunch al fresco. Sleep: Lucca.
Road trip! We head to Rome with our private driver. On the way, we stop at the Umbrian town of Orvieto, a hotspot of expats who want it all (to be close to everything, but away from it all). That evening we arrive in Rome where we’ll have some free time. Sleep: Rome
We’re so excited to share our Rome connections with you! You’ll have a walking tour to explore excellent residential neighborhoods where you can live like a local and have access to every amenity and pleasure you expect in a European capital city made for walking. Sleep: Rome
We’ll take a trip to a selection of the Castelli Romani, the villages just outside Rome that offer city access with peaceful, idyllic living (even the pope has a summer home here). Then it’s back to the city for an aperitivo on our favorite rooftop. Sleep: Rome
Road trip! We’re off to the Amalfi Coast with our private driver for a vacation within our vacation. You’ll stay right by the water in Vietri sul Mare, with free time to relax or catch a ferry to nearby towns like Positano or Amalfi. You’ll have the chance to go on an optional boat tour along the Amalfi coast. Sleep: Vietri Sul Mare
A free morning to explore the Amalfi Coast or just swim from the beach. Then we drive across Italy and land in Puglia before dinner. We check into our Lecce hotel and have an orientation tour with some free time. Sleep: Lecce
Today we meet with our Puglia experts! You’ll spend the day inside Lecce visiting rentals and exploring the city on a walking tour. With plenty to see and do, we’ll tailor suggestions to your interests. No matter your focus, you'll appreciate the calm charm of this beautifully preserved, low-tourism city. Sleep: Lecce
Today we head into the southern region of Puglia—an up-and-coming area where our trusted partners will show you just how affordable life can be. We’ll visit off-the-radar towns like Nardò and Galatina, where you can still find real estate for less than the cost of a used car. Sleep: Lecce
Today we’ll go north to the Valle d’Itria (Martina Franca, Locorotondo), as well as spend some time in Ostuni & Carovigno — where there are a plethora of stunning villas with sea views and olive orchards. This well-loved region of Puglia has attracted expats who’ve built stunning homes, offering a “luxury for less” lifestyle. We’ll show you what makes it so appealing. Sleep: Lecce
This is a travel day. You can book flights for any schedule today. In case you’re not ready to leave, you can stay in the area and discover further. Whatever you choose, we know you’ll be leaving energized. Buon viaggio! View the calendar to see other trips you can add before this journey.

I’ve wanted to offer a trip like this for a long time — ever since I first lived in Italy, 20 years ago.
I arrived as a solo traveler, and even though I eventually married into an Italian family, I never lost my “foreigner’s eyes.” I could see, even then, just how special life in Italy is.
For a fraction of what it cost to live in my home country, I had a light-filled penthouse apartment in a fun Italian city, with terraces overlooking the piazza and a three-block walk to work. Back home, I could barely afford a studio with a view of the parking lot and a long, freezing train commute.
Since then, a lot has changed. My home country feels more expensive, more divided, and the pace of life is faster than ever. Italy has changed too — but more slowly. They have a social safety net, a deep respect for tradition, and a pace of life that values family and living well over all else. That’s why so many from North America and Northern Europe feel pulled to this Mediterranean rhythm.
Of course, this lifestyle isn’t for everyone. In fact, it’s only for a rare few. Those willing to explore something different, to imagine a new way of living and a new chapter.
But if this trip speaks to you, I invite you to take a chance on yourself. At worst, it’s a beautiful two-week vacation in Italy. At best? It might change your life.
Things have a way of working out for the people ready to take a chance and plant a seed. You never know where it could take you. I didn’t — but the lifestyle I’ve built from rolling the dice and betting on myself was the right move and I would repeat it in a heartbeat!
So go ahead: roll the dice, plant the seed.
Carpe Diem — this one precious life is all we have,
Italian Fix was founded
Of guests have left us a 10/10 review post-trip (2023)
Of guests love our customer service
We have so many returning guests because they know they can trust us.
Return guests sometimes book the exact same trip to repeat the magic.
Our guests protect their investment by purchasing insurance.
Some of our guests are going through big life transitions; others are celebrating milestones.
Many guests meet lifelong friends on the trip and they return on future trips, together.
You can buy insurance, or use the insurance you already own (through work coverage, etc.) Insurance protects you should you fall ill before you travel, or an immediate family member does and you do not want to leave the country. Policies vary and you can shop around, we have suggestions in the guest portal.
Our travelers make connections that are deep and real between each other. With social disconnection on the rise more than ever, infusing your life with good people is a sacred act. (We have a knack for attracting interesting and great people!)
One of the most beautiful things about our trips is that they attract a lot of different kinds of people — and we’re proud of that. Our fun, safe, and let-your-hair-down energy draws the right guests from around the world with different backgrounds — because wanting to live your dolce vita transcends any location or age range.
We have guests who return to Italian Fix year after year. From the person who enjoys traveling solo to the besties who want to take a trip of a lifetime, they all want to have a carefree, fun-filled, and relaxing week. They trust Italian Fix to handle all the details.
No! We have a combination of solo travelers, people traveling with friends, and people traveling with partners/spouses on our tours.
First off, we speak Italian! We also understand the context, the customs, and the community of every location we visit. In Europe, it’s not what you know — it’s who you know. And we know people. Coming with us is like having a backstage pass. If you travel without us, you’re just one in a million foreigners waiting in lines and trying to get service. No connections or language fluency makes you the odd one out.
Our travel style allows you to be among friends and have access to things you couldn’t find on your own. No big-box concept of tourism around here. At Italian Fix, we’re mindful about keeping traditions alive and supporting local economies.
Our carefully crafted itineraries have been perfected over years of hosting successful trips, so they play out like a symphony — with cadence, timing and rhythm. All of our trips have up-time and down-time. The introverts who need quiet to recharge can get it, and the extroverts who derive energy from new connections can thrive too. One of our mottos is “Hey, it’s your holiday — opt out of any days you like.” We have lots to see, eat, do and explore whenever you wish to join in. Just put on your comfy shoes and andiamo!
Many of our guests are in the same boat. We have people who are going through life changes and more traveling is calling them. You’ll fit right in (and life is better with people who get you and you could potentially travel with in the future!).
Great — you can book a time to speak to Bianca, the owner. Here is a link to her calendar. Or email us.
